On Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, Reserve World Champion Hydrostatic died of complications of liver disease at the age of 12. It was not until after his death that his illness was diagnosed thus explaining his mild lethargy of the last couple of months.
Foaled on April 12, 2002, he was by A Jazz Man and out of an Ebony Threat mare. His show ring career spanned eight years (2004-2012) and he captured 25 blue ribbons during that time.
Owned and loved by Ann Bailey of Metairie, La., since 2008 and trained by Mane Motion Stables, the beautiful black stallion gave Ann “some of the most thrilling rides of my life” including a reserve world championship in the Owner Amateur Stallions class at the 2008 Celebration.
Dru McCormick who had the good fortune to share the reins with her mom from time to time described Hydrostatic as “a powerhouse in the show ring and a lover at the barn”. He will be greatly missed by the Bailey and McCormick families and everyone who knew him.
